"Soroptimist" is derived from two Latin words, "soror" meaning sister and "optima" meaning "best". It stands for "women at their best helping others to be their best".

SIROM Walk The Talk

SIROM Walk The Talk 2015, the 4th in the series, saw several key partners uniting to end Violence Against Women. The theme for Walk The Talk 2015 “Men and Women Unite to Stop Violence Against Women” is in line with the UN “Unite to End Violence Against Women”and the Global Orange campaign, to be held in conjunction with the UN 16 days of activism to eliminate gender violence.

The key partners were Police DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF), and was supported by 2 women’s organisations, WAO and AWAM. The Walk was also endorsed by the Ministry of Women and the Guest of Honour for the flag-off of the Walk was YBhg Dato' Munirah Abdullah Bajanuddin, Director General, Jabatan Pembangunan Wanita.
